After a year of being apart from our loved ones, The Kirkwood, which provides vital care for those living with a life-limiting illness in Kirklees, is encouraging families, friends, colleagues and neighbours to reconnect as part of an initiative to help support the charity’s life changing work.
With restrictions lifted, The Kirkwood Get Together invites the community to join together with the special people in their lives.
The event is completely flexible and you can host it your way, whether you want to keep it traditional with coffee and cakes, hot things up with a BBQ, or get together in the park for a picnic, there are endless ways you can get involved. Pick a date and time which suits you, sign up for a fundraising pack, invite your loved ones and get planning!
Julia Owen, community fundraiser with The Kirkwood, said: “A lot of people in our area still aren’t aware that it’s The Kirkwood, and not any other charity who provide this specialist care for people with any life limiting illness, including cancer, in their own home or care home.
“People who are diagnosed with a life-limiting condition often assume they will be supported by a Macmillan nurse, but in fact, it is The Kirkwood who delivers this care locally.
“Macmillan actually don’t cover the Kirklees area because they don’t need to. The Kirkwood is here for anyone affected by a life limiting illness when and where they need it.
“There has been no better time to get together with friends and family, all while helping to fund life-changing care in your community.”
