Golcar United played their first ever FA Cup tie on Saturday – but there was no fairytale ending as they lost 3-0 at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

The home side went ahead in the 38th minute with a goal from Kurtis Turner with a sweetly hit volley. It got worse for Golcar a few moments later when Kai Phillip sliced a clearance which looped into the net for an own goal.

Gareth Curtis made it 3-0 with a free-kick in the second half as Park Steels recorded a first FA Cup victory in 11 years.

The Weavers return to action in the Northern Counties East League on Tuesday (August 9) with their first home game of the season against Handsworth at the Skye Direct Stadium (7.45).
