It was the first outing of the season for Huddersfield Giants Ladies U19s and it certainly proved to be a baptism of fire.
The team travelled to West Park to face Leeds Rhinos, going down 64-0. It was the first game in a Giants shirt for many of the young players and despite some decent spells of play with plenty of grit and determination, an established and experienced Leeds side soon showed their strength.
Leeds looked comfortable for much of the game and a solid defence ensured the Huddersfield attacks were largely dealt with before they could threaten their try line.
Overall it was an entertaining and upbeat game played in good spirits with the Giants players keeping going right until the final whistle.
