With second spot in the NCEL Premier Division and a potential play-off place at stake it was always going to be a tight affair between Emley AFC and Winterton Rangers.
Second-placed Winterton came to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday with a points advantage over Emley in third knowing it was a game they couldn’t afford to lose.
Had Emley beaten their rivals they would have been just four points adrift with two games in hand but, as it was, the two evenly-matched sides effectively cancelled eachother out.
In front of a bumper Non-League Day crowd of 684, the two sides battled out a tetchy goalless draw. Emley now remain seven points adrift of Winterton needing to win their two games in hand to keep up the pressure.
Emley are unbeaten in 10 league matches with five games left and they travel to Barton Town on Tuesday March 28 (7.45).
