Five Huddersfield players have been called into the Yorkshire Amateur League Representative side.

Head coach Luke Haigh, who is also manager of Marsden FC, has also brought in four members of coaching staff to help with upcoming games against York and Humberside.

Richard Coggon, Steve Charlton and Richard Lewis are all assisting Haigh along with Golcar United physio Connor Kavanagh.

The five Huddersfield-based players called up for the internal game on Monday November 6 at Ossett United’s ground are: Nathan Eastwood and Matthew Colcombe (both from Lepton); Tom Brook and Harry Hobson (both from Marsden) and former Golcar United stalwart Ben Burnett (Ealandians).

The Representative side will begin with the internal friendly followed by another game against a York select side on November 28.

Haigh said: “The national ILC cup campaign begins in January and we have been drawn away to Humberside. This is a knock-out competition and it’s competed for nationally. Basically the ILC is for players not contracted to a club and who are below step 6 in the football pyramid.

“The committee have really backed me with new kit equipment and coaches too. No matter what happens in the ILC campaign we will continue to play games every seven or eight weeks against professional academies and step 6 and above teams.

“However, when the games for the players’ respective clubs start mounting up in March and April we will look to take a break so they are all fit and able to play for their clubs.”
