Want to try an electric bike and get back into cycling but lack the confidence? Well, there’s a free event in Huddersfield that could get you back on two wheels.

Environmental Projects in Kirklees (EPIKS) is offering a free try-it session at Tolson Museum in Ravensknowle Park, Moldgreen, on August Bank Holiday Monday (August 26) from 11am-4pm.

It’s a chance to ride an e-bike or folding e-bike under the guidance of a qualified cycling instructor. Rides must be booked in advance.

A spokesman for EPIKS said: “We are a not-for-profit organisation and so there are no sales pitches or any pressure to purchase anything. We simply want to see people out on their bikes, walking or wheeling in Kirklees.

“E-bikes offer a fantastic solution to many people’s fears about cycling – ‘I’m not fit enough’, ‘It’s too hilly’, ‘It’s been too long since I’ve ridden a bike’ – and we’d love to offer you the chance to experience them without feeling like someone’s selling you something.

“Our instructor will help introduce you to the bike – and possibly re-introduce you to bikes in general – before a short test-ride around the park to get a feel for the ‘pedal assist’ features.

“Don’t fear if you’ve not ridden in a little while, we have helmets, high-vis and a friendly and supportive team.”
