Emley AFC is building foundations for the future by setting up a new under-18s team.
The club’s Academy set-up has been running for a year and the upcoming season will be their second season.
The under-18 team is now looking for a new manager and coaching staff.
A club statement says: “After the successful launch of the Academy with an U23 side last year, plans are now in place to supplement with a younger squad that will also play in the FA Youth Cup.
“The U18 side will look for the best talent graduating from junior football – including players from club partners Yorkshire RTC – and give a development path into open age football which will hopefully include the Emley AFC first team.”
Emley AFC chairman Andrew Painten said: “Despite the Covid-hit stop-start season, the first year of the Academy and the under-23 side has been a great success. It was always our intention to add a younger age group in the years to come but we feel very confident getting this off the ground ready for 2021-22.”
Academy manager Sam Sutton added: “The backing from the Emley board and first team management has been tremendous and me and my coaching team as well as the players quickly gelled with the club. This is a natural progression for this project and one that excites us all.”
With the under-18 side now set up the club is inviting applications for management and coaching positions. Find out how you can apply for the roles by heading to Emley AFC’s website.
