Emley AFC extended their unbeaten run to six matches and did everything but score as they were held to a goalless draw at home by a resolute Handsworth side.

The Pewits had scored 11 goals in the previous three matches but couldn’t find a way through against Handsworth on Tuesday night.

In a game that Emley dominated, exceptional goalkeeping from Handsworth’s Dylan Parkin, dogged defending and some wayward finishing saw the visitors come away with a point.

Iyrwah Gooden fired over before Ruben Jerome glanced a header inches wide in the best chance of the first half.

Emley stepped up a gear after the break, exerting immense pressure with a succession of corners. Parkin, however, pulled off a series of great saves.

Joe Kenny curled an effort just wide and Jerome hit a shot from outside the box but it was straight at Parkin.

As the clock ticked down, Handsworth wasted as much time as possible to frustrate Emley and hold out for the point.

Emley’s next game is against Guisborough Town at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday October 21 (3.00) in the FA Vase first round.
