Dante Newell’s double helped Deighton to a 14th straight win and they are just three points from winning the Division 3 title – and it’s only Christmas.

Deighton’s 5-2 win over promotion challengers Brook Motors was the headline result in the Huddersfield District League’s last round of fixtures before the festive break.

Meanwhile, a double from Luke Gibson helped Berry Brow move up to fourth in Division 1 with a 5-1 win over Slaithwaite.

The other goals came from Joe Brennan, Jamal Bent and Thomas Oakes while Ashley Beardsall scored the consolation for Slawit.

Fothergill & Whittles travelled to bottom club Shelley and came away with the points in a 4-2 win, with Tom Roberts scoring both goals for Shelley.

Kirkheaton Rovers moved in to second place in Division 2 on goal difference following their 10-0 win over bottom club Holme Valley Academicals. Jonathan Askin (two), Nathan Goddard (two), Benjamin Hallitt (four), Daniel Hallitt and Oliver Martin were on the scoresheet for Kirkheaton.

Joe Muxworthy, Eddy Seymour and Louis Wrafter scored for Huddersfield Laund Hill as they just scraped past Almondbury Woolpack in a 3-2 win. David Ginty and Barnaby Wood scored for the Woolpack.

Usman Adelekelo (two), Tyler Boswell, Tom White (two), Jonny Crowther (two) and Ryan Binny were on the mark as AFC Lindley eased past Lepton Highlanders 8-1 to move up to fourth.

Deighton recorded their 14th straight win of the campaign and only need three more points to win Division 3 following a 5-2 win over promotion challengers Brook Motors. Phil Rigby and Dylan Brent scored for the Motors and Dareece Siddique, Jamal Simpson, Declan Thomas and Dante Newell (two) scored for Deighton.

Hade edge entertained Marsden Cuckoos at Flowery Fields and shared the points in a 4-4 draw. Anas Galib, Luke Heavens and debutant Tom Adams (two) scoring for Hade Edge and Jason shaw (two), Fraser Hepplestone and John Conheeney scoring for Marsden.

Grange Moor Saints travelled to Meltham Athletic and came away with the points in a 3-1 win. Toby Farrington scored for Meltham, and Sam Kent (two) and Cameron Wilkey scored for the Saints.

A goal from Ryan Hughes and a Tommy Bunn hattrick saw Saddleworth move into the promotion places in Division 4 in a 4-1 win away at Thorpe Giants. Oliver Hughes scored the consolation for the Giants.

In the reserves section Berry Brow moved up to second in Division 1 after a 5-1 win over Heywood Irish Centre with goals from Dale Neary (two), Jack O’Connor, Dean Siddiq and Lee Wharam, with Adam Squire scoring for Heywood’s.

Josh Adams (two) and Samuel Bagshaw scored for Diggle as they beat Netherton 3-1. Chris Mattimoe scoring for Netherton. Bottom club Shelley Development lost heavily to Linthwaite Athletic 11-1.

Kirkburton’s lead at the top of Division 2 dropped to five points following their 2-1 defeat at home to AFC Lindley. After a goalless first half, Alex Blagbrough and Luke Webb sealed the points for Lindley who move up to second place in the table.

Bottom club Holme Valley Academicals earned a valuable point in a 2-2 draw with Holmbridge with goals from Jack Osbourne and Sebastian Waddington. Gary Parr and James Phillips scored for the Bridge. Meltham Athletic travelled to Scissett and won 3-2 with goals from Louis Polat, Jake Wood and Gabriel Cattell.

Slaithwaite United extended their lead at the top of Division 3 by hammering bottom club Wooldale Wanderers 13-1. Josh Moore led the rout with six, Scott Garside (two), Joshua Roberts, Bradley Howe (three) and Joseph Taylor completed the scoring.

Linthwaite Athletic A stay third after a narrow 2-1 win over Netherton A. Midtable Deighton A pulled off a surprise 3-0 win away at second place Berry Brow A with goals from Dijon Hanson, Dominic McDonald-Webster and Martin Hirst.

Hade Edge recorded their biggest away win in 20 years beating Grange Moor Saints 13-0 with goals from Ethan Dyson, Reuben Barraclough, Harry Airstone and five each for Archie Eastwood and Jake Marshall.

Dalton Dynamos A stay top of Division 4 following their 6-1 win over Brook Motors Development and Fothergill & Whittles A stay second after their 6-1 win over Berry Brow B. Jonathan Lodge scored the consolation for the Brow.

Hade Edge A travelled to bottom club West End Park Development and claimed the points in a 3-0 win with goals from Andrew Daisey (two) and Mike Boulares.

In the Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup Daniel Ingham scored twice as Shepley knocked out Flockton in a 2-0 win and a Troy Toulcher goal was enough for Kirkburton to defeat Netherton in a 1-0 win to move through to the next round.

George Jowett (two) and James Travis scored for Scholes as they went through in a 3-0 win over Scissett. Linthwaite Athletic also went through beating Wooldale Wanderers 11-2.

In the Huddersfield FA Challenge Trophy Scholes moved through to the next round with a narrow 2-1 win away at Skelmanthorpe whilst Mount overcame Britannia Sports 6-5.
