Honley Show will be on the last Saturday in June … and children get in free if you buy your tickets in advance.

The ever-popular show will be at the Farnley Tyas Showground on June 29 and will feature the Kennel Club accredited dog show for the first time in around six years.

Children aged under 14 can go into the showground free with paying adults and tickets are available online at https://honleyshow.co.uk/home/buy-tickets/ or through the usual ticket sale outlets. The free child tickets are only for tickets bought in advance up to 11pm on Friday, June 28. Adult tickets are £18 in advance or £20 on the day with children’s tickets £3 on the day.

The schedules and entry forms for all the competitive sections – cattle, goats, pigs, sheep, horses, dogs, rabbits, handicrafts, cars and tractors – are available on the Honley Show website. This year sees expanded light and heavy horse sections.

The show’s new president is Ian Holmes who has had a long association with the show results from his career at Bailey Smailes – the show’s honorary solicitors and sponsors of the Grand Parade.

He said: “I feel very honoured to assist in the guidance of the show for its next century and to continue my association with it which began in 1980.

“I’m hugely impressed with the commitment and hard work from the volunteer committee. I know they have a fabulous show planned for this year so do come on the day and if you’d like to get involved, especially in the few days prior to and after the show day when a lot of work and effort is required on a very tight time scale, get in touch via our social media channels.”
