It’s all about taking chances as Golcar United seek a first win of the season after promotion to the Northern Counties East League.
The Weavers drew 1-1 in their opening game at Thackley and then went down 1-0 at home to Handsworth on Tuesday night.
Golcar created a host of chances against Handsworth, even though they were down to 10 men when Kiero Lawrence was sent off in the first half.
The Weavers go to Penistone Church on Saturday (August 13) and joint boss Ash Connor said: “Penistone are a good team and we’ll need to perform well.
“I think performances have been good so far and we probably deserve more than the one point we have collected.
“You do get punished at this level when you don’t take your chances and we have seen that. We are creating chances which is great. Now we just need to take them.”
There are no injuries going into the game. New striker Kayle Price has yet to get off the mark this campaign but boss Connor is confident the front man will grab his first goal soon.
He said: “Kayle is a good player, once he gets off the mark he’ll be fine, it’s just about getting that first goal. He’s come close to scoring in the previous two games so it’s just a matter of time.”
The game will take place at Penistone Church on Saturday 3pm kick off.
