Huddersfield Town Foundation is planning a fundraising evening with Town boss Neil Warnock, just three days after the season ends.
The veteran boss has turned Town’s season around since his arrival in February and, with just three matches left, the club has a fighting chance of beating the drop.
Town had looked near certainties for relegation from the Championship but a five-match unbeaten run in March and April, including stunning back-to-back victories over Millwall, Middlesbrough and Watford, lifted them out of the bottom three.
Warnock, 74, who has insisted he won’t be tempted to stay on at Town even if he clinches the Great Escape, will be star of the show at an Evening with Neil Warnock at the John Smith’s Stadium on Thursday May 11 (7pm).
Last year Warnock went on a national ‘Are You With Me?’ tour and there was a packed event at Huddersfield Town Hall in September where he was joined on stage by assistant boss Ronnie Jepson and former Town players Andy Booth, Iain Dunn and Chris Billy. His tour will resume at the back end of May.
The Town Foundation event is aimed at raising funds for the foundation’s work, which includes the school Breakfast Clubs, which have provided youngsters at schools across Kirklees with a nutritious start to the day for the last 10 years.
Warnock was previously manager at Town from 1993-1995. He led the club to an Autoglass Trophy Final at Wembley and promotion via the play-offs, just one of eight promotions on an incredible managerial CV.
Warnock announced his ‘retirement’ in April 2022 but was tempted back by the ‘impossible’ task of keeping Town in the Championship.
When asked if he’ll stay on at Town he’s joked that he now only works from February to May – and spends the rest of the time on his tractor at home in Cornwall.
Whatever the outcome of the last three matches of the season, it promises to be a night not to be missed – for a great cause too.
Tickets for the event in the Revel Ward Suite cost £70 per person and include a two-course meal.
