More than 1,000 fun runners made a colourful splash as The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice Colour Run raised an amazing £30,000.
Vicky Stackhouse, event manager at Forget Me Not, said: “What a wonderful day we had at Greenhead Park. It was incredible to see so many people having such a fantastic time – and all to raise vital funds to help us support local children and families.
“After two years when we weren’t able to hold our flagship event – thanks to the pandemic – it was heart-warming to see the local community turning out in force to show their support.
“The day was made even more magical because many of our families also took part, proudly wearing the name of their child on their t-shirts.
“So far our colour runners have raised an absolutely fantastic £30,000 and there’s more still to come in. A massive thank you to everyone who got colourful with us, and who have worked tirelessly to raise such a magnificent amount!
“Huge thanks too to headline sponsors Charlesworth Family Group, colour station sponsors Elland Round Table, Mercedes Benz, Shepley Spring and CDUK. With their support, we have been able to keep event costs down, which means every penny (all £30,000) raised by our participants will go straight to the charity.
“Thanks are also due to the marvellous Alex from KAL Fitness who got our runners warmed up and to photographers Mike Robinson and Ian Jones who helped us capture the day in all its colourful glory! And of course to our wonderful team of staff and volunteers who made the day a real success!”
