Almondbury Wesleyan Cricket Club has raised £908.68 for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
The club held a successful Charity Day for Yorkshire Cancer Research to honour Keith Crawshaw on his retirement as secretary. The event featured a charity raffle, cake stall, quiz and cricket tea.
Yorkshire Cancer Research funds world-leading research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer in the region.
Keith followed in his father’s footsteps as Almondbury Wesleyan Cricket Club secretary, a role he held for 33 years.
Steve Fonquernie-Fisher, chairman of Almondbury Wesleyan Cricket Club, said: “Keith has undertaken his role with pride and dedication for many years.
“Our club sought to recognise and celebrate his retirement as club secretary. Instead of a personal gift, Keith requested funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research, a cause that is close to his heart. It was our privilege to organise the Charity Day and support the pioneering work of Yorkshire Cancer Research.”
Keith has been a member of the Huddersfield Volunteer Committee, Yorkshire Cancer Research, for almost 37 years. In 2023 he sponsored the Almondbury Wesleyan Cricket Club under-9 team, on behalf of Yorkshire Cancer Research.
