Precision engineering component supplier Accu has launched a UK-wide scholarship programme to help engineering students across the country kick-start their careers in the industry.

The ‘Building Tomorrow’s Visionaries’ scholarship is designed to help towards funding the prospective careers of undergraduate engineers, while its ‘Building Tomorrow’s Visionaries’ award will provide a funding boost to engineers working on their postgraduate studies.

Both are open for applications now via the Accu website.

Honley-based Accu, which employs more than 90 people and supplies over 50% of the world’s top 100 manufacturers, has partnered with leading financial wellbeing platform Blackbullion to offer the two scholarships.

Alastair Morris, UK managing director at Accu, said: “We want to ensure the brightest minds have the resources they need to pursue their dreams and become the innovators and problem solvers of the future. That’s why we’re excited to announce the Accu scholarship programme. Together, we’re building tomorrow.

“At Accu, we have created an inspiring workplace that encourages everyone to learn, innovate and grow.

“Now we want to extend those efforts further, by supporting the next generation of engineers with the funding and hands-on work experience opportunities they need to kick-start their careers.”

Scholarship winners will also receive £100 credit for use at Accu.co.uk to purchase components needed to build any equipment, create working prototypes, or to complete assemblies for their own personal projects.

On top of this, the company may offer paid internship opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience within the industry and learn how Accu utilises the latest Industry 4.0 technology to support innovators with rapid delivery of components.

Mr Morris added: “For years, Accu has supported students who share our passion for engineering, helping them to develop their skills across multiple disciplines, including aerospace, motorsport, robotics and medical.

“From working closely with student-led teams competing in established contests such as the IMechE Formula Student competition, to presenting guest lectures on high performance fasteners at universities, Accu is proud to support the engineers and leaders of tomorrow.”
