A graduate of the University of Huddersfield has developed a new device to protect machine operators from harmful fumes.
Sam Edwards, of Huddersfield-based Corinthian Engineering, has created a new extraction bench – Meliora – tailored to the needs of the additive manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical and cannabinoid manufacturing industries.
The company has already worked on a number of major manufacturing and engineering projects within Yorkshire and abroad, and is now embarking on developing its own engineered products.
Based at the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre, Corinthian Engineering recognised how the need for protecting operators from harmful fumes and particulates was becoming more and more important.
The device extracts airborne particulates and harmful fumes away from the operator and can be wheeled into a lab of any size (image below).

Social Progress, a digital marketing agency based in Honley, is delighted to announce its partnership with the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and their event, MY Conference Wakefield 2023.
The event will take place in the hospitality suite of the new East Stand at Wakefield Trinity, with support from a dedicated group of local companies.

Huddersfield-based Software as a Service (SaaS) provider, Adventoris, has launched its first ever multiple supplier app for the British Independent Retailers Association (Bira) on its SwiftCloud platform.
The app, which is also a first for Bira, will offer Bira customers the opportunity to shop from multiple suppliers within its membership in one location, including STAX, Draper Tools, LG Harris and many others.
SwiftCloud is a customisable B2B mobile app platform designed specifically for distributors and wholesalers that enables their customers to see products, communicate with the company and make orders 24/7.
Established in 1899, Bira is the leading trade association for independent retailers in the UK and works with over 6,000 independent businesses of all sizes.

Property compliance specialist Inspectas is marking 10 years in business with four new appointments, a senior promotion and a move into new premises.
The 40-strong business is expanding its team with the appointment of major projects, fire and compliance chief operating officer Neil Triggs; fire compliance services divisional lead Michael Shone; health & safety divisional lead Naveed Mohammed; senior director land remediation Andrew Ford; and the promotion of Fiona Lindsay to operations director.
With a decade working in the public and private sectors specialising in asbestos surveys and removal, fire safety, health and safety compliance and land remediation, Inspectas has recently moved to new premises on Bradford Road in Drighlington, doubling its office space to allow further team and departmental growth.

Nazia Nawaz has joined leading Yorkshire law firm Schofield Sweeney as a partner.

Keyko works with Web3 and blockchain businesses and is now looking to attract enterprise-level clients in the banking, financial services and insurance sectors.
Smith, based in Huddersfield and Leeds, has been appointed to rebrand Keyko and create a new website to help support sales efforts.
