Golcar United went down to a 1-0 home defeat against 10-man Penistone Church at the Skye Direct Stadium on Saturday.
The Church keeper Christopher Snaith was sent off a minute into the second half when he leapt to catch a high ball – but landed with both feet outside the box.
Golcar keeper Harry Stead was forced into some early saves but he was powerless to prevent Kieran Ryan tapping home in the 27th minute for what proved to be the only goal.
Golcar travel to Handsworth on Tuesday (August 1) looking to kickstart their second season in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division. Kick-off is 7.45.
