Churches in Huddersfield are working together to bring hope and Easter treats to the town.
Hope Huddersfield is a group of churches including, Methodist, Baptists, Anglican, Elim, Pentecostal, New Frontiers and Pioneer Network churches.
Easter is a traditional time for Christians to celebrate but as Covid-19 restrictions remain in place meeting together, for many, is still not possible. Hope Huddersfield has decided to take Easter onto streets and into parks and neighborhoods.
Five thousand fabric bags are being filled with chocolates and Easter message cards to be delivered across the town. They will easily fit through letter boxes or can be left on doorsteps so people can be kept safe. Some of the bags will be given out in a socially distanced manner in Greenhead Park.
Mike Reid, who heads up the Hope Huddersfield steering group, said: “We want to bring the good news of Jesus to people when things are still so challenging for so many.
“By working together and giving our church members a few bags each to give to their neighbours we can reach thousands of people.
“As a group of churches, we have always considered that working together brings some of the best opportunities for doing good.”
The bags will be distributed in the days leading up to Easter Sunday.
