The Championship might have taken a couple of weeks off, but Huddersfield Town Supporters’ Association (HTSA) has been busy representing the interests of its members and the wider fanbase.
On Tuesday, we joined dozens of other European fans’ groups to discuss our Sustainable Stadium campaign, which has received significant attention in the past month or so. The event was hosted by Football Supporters Europe (FSE), and also included contributions from Pledgeball and German fans’ initiative Zukunft Profifussball. On Wednesday, meanwhile, we swapped notes with the Huddersfield Giants Supporters’ Association (HGSA). The main items of concern were the future of the stadium and the role that fans might play in any new ownership structure. We both reaffirmed our belief that the stadium should be available for use by both clubs and the community as a whole.
Finally, on Thursday, members of our Sustainable Stadium working group met with representatives from Kirklees Council to find practical ways to improve the environmental footprint of the John Smith’s Stadium. Both sides agreed to meet regularly in the coming months.
Next week should be quieter, though we will be working to expand our offer for members. Remember, you can join HTSA for just £1, and if you work in the NHS, emergency services, a school or the armed forces, membership is free.
Oh, and one last thing. As you might have heard, The Welcome Centre foodbank is currently experiencing unprecedented demand. You can help out by donating to our own Fans For Foodbanks crisis fund, which to date has raised over £12,500.
Alternatively, the Huddersfield Town Foundation will be running collection points at Leeds Road Sports Complex (HD2 1YY) on Monday March 29 and Tuesday March 30 between 11.30am and 3pm. Donations will go to the Welcome Centre and Batley Foodbank.
