Students from Kirklees College are showcasing their talents at Huddersfield Winter Festival – and learning new skills.
The Kirklees College Christmas Kick Off performance has been written and directed by level 3 Performing Arts students.
It debuted to a live audience in the tipi in St George’s Square on Friday December 3 and there will be further performances on Friday December 10 and Friday December 17 at 12 noon and 2.30pm.
In the 30-minute show, the Performing Arts students will showcase ‘The Missing Sock’ an original piece of work; perform the comedy sketch ‘Christmas after Covid’; and sing Christmas songs and dance. There will be Christmas jumpers aplenty too!
Music students also got in on the act singing songs and playing the piano for the live audience while Travel and Tourism students served hot drinks to bystanders.

Performing arts lecturer Lydia Murrãy said: “We are really pleased to be supporting the Huddersfield Winter Festival again this year.
“As part of the students’ work placement to support their course they have gained experience of working with employers, performing to a live audience, creating original work and working to an industry brief.
“The festival has provided our learners with an immersive experience that has developed their skills in directing, making props and working to a schedule – all of which they will need in their careers in the creative sector.”
