Joint boss Ash Connor believes Golcar United have the big game players who will relish the pressure of Tuesday night’s showdown with title favourites Bury AFC.
The Weavers head to the Neuven Stadium in Radcliffe (7.45) for a clash between the only two sides in the North West Counties Division One North still unbeaten this season.
Bury are a point clear at the top and Golcar are fourth, three points behind and with a game in hand.
Cup fixtures take priority over league matches and that has left Golcar without a competitive game since September 25 when they demolished Wythenshawe 4-0 in the FA Vase.
While Golcar had to push back the visit to Bury and also the postponed home game against Cleator Moor Celtic and make do with a friendly on Saturday, Bury showed their fighting spirit and class coming back from 2-0 down at half-time to beat AFC Darwen 5-2.

Connor said Golcar’s break wasn’t ideal but he knew the players could handle the situation.
“We were on another roll again and it would have been nice to have kept the momentum going with games straight away but we have to go by the rules and cup games come first.
“To be honest we want to just play anyone right now. Just give us anyone!” he joked.
Golcar’s last league game was billed as their biggest test of the season when they went to then leaders Pilkington FC coming away with a 6-2 victory which included a hattrick for Ash Flynn.
Connor knows the magnitude of Tuesday’s game and said: “It’s a big test but the boys are ready. They know what needs to be done.
“We have a good group that are experienced. They are good at handling these sorts of games, just like against Pilkington. We blew them away and that was also a top of the table clash.

“The players know it won’t be easy, Bury are a very good side. It’s mine and Gav’s job to keep the players grounded.”
Bury have a big following and Golcar have a growing supporter base too and the Weavers are putting on a coach to ensure they have plenty of vocal backing from the stands.
Connor added: “It’s great the club has put a coach on, the more support we have there the better. Our fans are great and always cheer us on. I know the players and me and Gav certainly appreciate all their backing.”
