Interfaith Week in Huddersfield will be marked by a friendship walk on Saturday November 9.

The event will include Huddersfield Parish Church, the Ahmadiyya Mosque on Fitzwilliam Street and the Hindu Temple on Zetland Street and marks the beginning of Interfaith Week which runs from November 10-17.

It starts at the church at 12noon when there will be the chance for people to speak to faith leaders and to find out about how each place of worship reflects the faith of the people who gather there.

The Rev Canon Rachel Firth, Vicar of Huddersfield, said: “Questions are welcome as part of the visits and the hope is that as people walk and talk they’ll discover new things and build positive relationships.

“All three of these centres of worship are part of the South Kirklees Interfaith and Belief Forum which gives different faith groups the chance to explore both their differences and their common ground.”

The Forum meets regularly and welcomes new members. It is attended by Christian, Quaker, Bahai, Sikh, Hindu, Ahmadiyya and Humanist members, but welcomes anyone who wants to find out more about faith and belief and help promote an agenda of peace and understanding between people.
