The YMCA is to open a new charity shop in Huddersfield town centre.

The shop in King Street, just up from Boots, will be officially opened at 10am on Tuesday November 26.

The YMCA is aimed at supporting people in the local community with core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

The charity promises more than just a shop and say it’s a commitment to fostering community wellbeing.

The shop will offer a wide array of high-quality, affordable items including clothing and accessories, bric-a-brac, books, entertainment, childrenswear and toys.

The driving force behind the new shop is a testament to the local community’s generosity and unwavering support to making a difference in the lives of young people and families in need.

By providing a platform for community members to donate gently used items, the shop aims to create a cycle of generosity that will benefit the entire community.

Emma Castle, area manager for Yorkshire, said: “We believe in the power of community and the impact it can have on the lives of individuals.

“Our charity shops are not just a retail space; they are a vehicle for positive change. Through donations and volunteer support, we can amplify our efforts and reach even more people who may be facing challenges.”

At the opening, the charity promises special guests, entertainment and an opportunity to learn more about how the charity shop will positively impact the community.

In addition to welcoming donations, YMCA is actively seeking volunteers to join the team.
