Major highways improvements on Queensgate and Shorehead roundabout in Huddersfield town centre have been completed ahead of schedule.
Huddersfield Ring Road has seen a £750,000 investment with a series of extensive works. This includes the resurfacing of the carriageway and roundabout, new kerbing, improvements to the central reservation, upgraded traffic signals and a new pedestrian crossing with tactile paving.
Clr Munir Ahmed, Cabinet member for environment and highways, said: “We understand that the closures of the major carriageway have caused some disruption, and we thank residents and businesses for their patience whist our engineers completed the works.
“Commuters will undoubtedly benefit from the improvements, in terms of journey times, accessibility and safety.
“It is without a doubt that collaborative working with contractors and utilities, diligent planning, dedication and hard work has led to the successful and smooth delivery of the Queensgate improvement scheme. Well done and thank you to everyone involved.”
Meanwhile, in Cleckheaton, Chain Bar roundabout is on course to be completed as expected at the end of September.
