We Do Tennis CIC is holding an open day on Sunday November 27 at Longley Tennis Club in Almondbury to introduce new people to the sport.

The company took over the running of the club in June and this is its second open day. The event will be held from 1pm for juniors (11–16 years of age) and from 2pm for adults. Children aged 10 years and under can attend a session from 3pm. The sessions are free of charge and will be delivered by the We Do Tennis team and new head coach Matt Pinel.

The company works with tennis clubs of all sizes throughout the UK, helping to improve their tennis coaching programmes and tennis club operations.

Company director Alan Cutts said: “We are delighted to be holding another open day. Since we began in June we now have over 40 players taking part in our sessions.

“We are looking to double that by the first few months into next year. The club is going from strength to strength and so we thought now would be another good opportunity to hold an open day.

“The facility is magnificent at the Longley site, an indoor and outdoor court, automated lights and great systems so we are really happy with what we have to work with there.”

There is lots of exciting news around the club at the moment. They have recently employed a new head coach in Matt Pinel.

On the appointment Alan said: “Matt brings a huge amount of experience to We Do Tennis and Longley TC. Originally from New Zealand Matt now lives with his wife in Shelf.

“He has an impressive playing background having trained at Bollettierri tennis academy in Florida with the likes of Andy Roddick, Serena Williams and Tommy Haas. He joined the professional circuit for two years attaining a world ranking of 1,288.

“He is running all the weekly coaching programmes as well as offering any club members private lessons.”
