Kirklees Council’s Castle Hill ranger Julian Brown is asking for willing volunteers to join him on a litter pick at the Green Flag Award winning site.
The litter pick will take place at Castle Hill on Friday February 25 from 10am to 12noon and is open to everyone. All equipment including disposable gloves, sanitiser and litter pickers will be provided.
The traffic barrier at Castle Hill, which has been in place for nearly a year, has not only helped to curb anti-social behaviour at night, but has also led to a reduction in litter being left at the site.
However, increased visitor numbers as the year goes on means that litter is still an issue. Castle Hill ranger Julian Brown welcomes any help from the community to support him in keeping the site clean and safe for people and wildlife.
Clr Naheed Mather, Cabinet member for the environment, said: “Kirklees Council is committed to providing parks and greenspaces that our residents can be proud of.
“This litter pick is an opportunity for people to join us in our efforts to improve the environment at one of our most loved and cherished landmarks. Volunteers play a vital part in our community, and I am hugely grateful for their contribution.”
