Two Huddersfield kickboxers have been successful in the sport’s world championships.
Scott Chadwick and Ollie Hughes both train at the Kane Academy in Marsh and took part in the World Kickboxing Organisation world championships in Barnsley featuring competitors from around the world including America, Africa, Ireland, Germany, Holland, Italy and Mexico.
Scott, 37, of Honley, competed in K1 kickboxing which includes low kicks and he won a bronze medal in the men’s heavyweight division. He also competed in the kick above the waist kickboxing division, clinching another bronze.
Oliver, 42, of Kirkheaton, won a silver in a very tough sport boxing division.
Rebecca Kane, who owns the Kane Academy based on St James’ Road in Marsh, said: “I could not be prouder of these two warriors who sacrificed a lot to train for the event. Both have children and families and it shows that this sport is for everyone.”
