It was an emotional day as Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice brought more than a splash of colour to Huddersfield’s Greenhead Park on Saturday.

The charity’s annual Colour Run saw over 900 people run and walk the course – and be splattered by a rainbow of colours to raise over £30,000 for the Huddersfield-based hospice.

Vicky Lough, event manager at Forget Me Not, said: “What an amazing day! It was incredible to see so many people having such a fun time, whilst also raising so much money to support local children and families.

“It was heart-warming seeing so many people come and show their support – not only the participants but the spectators, sponsors and passers-by who stopped to get involved too.

“So far our colour runners have raised an absolutely fantastic £30,000 – every penny of which will go straight to supporting local children and families.

“And there’s more still to come in. We know that that number will continue to grow over the next few weeks as people chase up those finals few sponsors.”

Vicky added: “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part. There wouldn’t be an event without you!

“But also a big thanks too to our headline sponsors Charlesworth Family Group, colour station sponsors Elland Round Table, Shepley Spring, Aflex Hose, FMG and Richter Associates.

“Thanks are also due to Alex from KAL who got our runners warmed up and to photographer Mike Robinson who helped us capture the day!

“And, of course, to our wonderful team of staff and volunteers who worked hard to make sure the day was such a success.”
