The Tories took the scalp of Labour Cabinet member Graham Turner in Denby Dale with Tim Bamford (pictured left) coming home with a 482-majority.
Earlier Tory Adam Gregg defeated Lib Dem councillor Richard Eastwood in Lindley as the Conservatives made a couple of gains but the Labour vote generally held up against what triumphant Tory Bernard McGuin described as the “Boris bounce” – a feelgood factor caused by the successful roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccine.
