Looking for an easy way to entertain the children during half-term? Then round up the little ones and head outside to find the pack of colourful Snowdogs dotted around Kirklees.
Activity Week (October 24-30) runs over the school holidays and is the perfect opportunity for families to explore as part of Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees in Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Slaithwaite, Dewsbury, Batley, Birstall and Cleckheaton.
Besides sniffing out the Snowdogs, the teams at The Kirkwood and Kirklees Libraries have organised a number of events to keep you busy over the week. Read on to find out what’s happening.
Crafty creations
Head on down to the Piazza in Huddersfield town centre to take part in crafting workshops. Here you will find a range of Snowdogs and Christmas-themed activities taking place – and it’s free to join! Keep an eye on the Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees Facebook page for more info.
A trail within the trail
If you’re planning on going to a few different trail locations while you’re searching for the Snowdogs, you can join in on the free scavenger hunt which will run alongside the art trail over half-term. You can download the map online, or you can pick up a physical copy in the Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees pop up shop at the Piazza Centre. Again, its free to join!
Paint your own Snowdog
Back by popular demand, ‘Paint your own Snowdog’ workshops will also make their return. If you haven’t yet been able to attend one of these sessions (or maybe you want another!) now is the last chance you will get to take home your own piece of trail history and create your very own miniature Snowdog. Support your local library
Libraries across Kirklees will be holding ‘Snowdogs Storytime Trails’ over half-term. These multisensory sessions are aimed at children under five, and will offer a Snowdogs trail around the library which little ones can follow for themselves, plus, there will be additional activities for them to enjoying including colouring, wordsearches and crafting. These are ticket sessions and availability is limited, so book ahead to avoid disappointment. Visit https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/kirkleeslibraries.

There is one week left to enjoy Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees, so if you’re yet to start or only have a few sculptures left to map, you still have time!
Remember, all you need to do to take part is download the Snowdogs Support Life app on your smartphone (£1.79) or pick up a trail map from one of The Kirkwood shops (suggested donation of £1).
