It’s the perfect gift of thrift for lovers of charity shops and a great way to encourage people to join the second-hand revolution.
It’s Secondhand September and The Kirkwood and the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice are helping people spend sustainably with a gift card exclusively for charity shops.
The Charity Shop Gift Card is the only nationally accepted, multi-retailer gift card that can be spent exclusively in charity shops.
Huddersfield shoppers can now buy and spend The Charity Shop Gift Card at the 18 shops run by The Kirkwood and the 14 run by the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
The first-of-its-kind gift card is a not-for-profit gift card that has been developed in partnership with the Charity Retail Association to support good causes.
Paul Freethy, head of retail and trading for The Kirkwood, said: “Our mission to support individuals with life limiting illnesses is only possible through donations and revenue generated in our charity shops.
“We are excited to engage our supporters through a scheme which encourages people to lead a greener life and grow our revenue simultaneously.”
Andrea Titherington-Kay, trading manager at Forget Me Not Hospice, said: “The staff at our children’s hospice deliver outstanding care to children and families day in day out but this wouldn’t be possible without our charity shops.
“Alongside the economic benefits, we’re excited that the scheme will encourage shoppers to make sustainable decisions and choose pre-loved over fast fashion.”
