Popular local swing band Sundown Swing will be performing their annual Christmas concert at St Philip’s Community Centre on Sunday December 17 starting at 2pm.
They will be giving popular Christmas tunes the big band treatment and including timeless well-known big band favourites performed by iconic bands such as Glenn Miller and his contemporaries.
The band have had a successful year performing many local concerts around the Huddersfield area. They celebrated the King’s Coronation with a concert at St Matthew’s Church, Rastrick, performed a 1940s concert at the Jubilee Centre, Paddock, performed summer concerts in local parks and had a very successful joint event with the Marsh Ladies Choir at the United Church, Moldgreen.
The highlight of their year was a return visit to the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. The band had previously visited the Festival on three occasions.
This year they performed three concerts at the magnificent church and concert venue, St Andrew’s and St George’s West where they received a very warm welcome and have been invited to return next year.
This year the band will be making their 8th annual visit to St Philip’s for their Christmas concert having played every Christmas since 2015 with the exception of 2020.
Tickets are £8 and include seasonal refreshments during the interval. They can be reserved by phoning Karen 07930 657284 or emailing info@sundownswing.org.uk or they can be purchased at the door.
