Social media can be a real pain for small businesses but help is at hand with the launch of a new workshop group in Huddersfield.

Social media whizz Laura Channing is ready to provide people running small businesses with support and the tools they need to succeed.

Laura runs Huddersfield-based social media marketing company Udessä with partner Sami Jackson and is launching her workshops at Arcade Coffee and Food in the Byram Arcade in Huddersfield town centre on Monday November 18 (2.30pm-4.30pm).

Laura said: “Everyone in business knows how important social media is but people running small businesses have so many demands on their time and, let’s face it, social media is hard work – and a real pain!

“But there are ways that we can make social media more manageable, less stressful and more effective.

“Our workshops aim to bring like-minded people together and show them they are not alone. We can lift the mystery on content, planning, scheduling and analytics and show people there is a way through the social media maze.”

Laura, who is neuro-divergent, is four months into her own business journey with partner Sami Jackson, who is the in-house designer.

Sami is half-Finnish and the name of their business – Udessä – means ‘Together’ in Finnish.

Laura uses being neuro-divergent to her advantage and added: “I’m passionate about my business and passionate about social media and this is more than just hosting a few workshops, I want to create a community.

“Starting and running your own business is tough – and expensive – and all about trial and error. But if we can bring people together to share their experiences then everyone can benefit and learn a few shortcuts to success.”

Laura can also offer one-to-one coaching on social media and said: “Consistency is key with social media so you have to keep going. I can offer a gentle hand hold – or a kick up the butt if you need it!

“Social media doesn’t have to be a pain, it can be fun too.”

‘Authenticity’ is the buzz word about social media but Laura says it goes beyond that.

“Just be who you are,” said Laura. “When you read social media it can seem like everyone has a perfect life and is smashing it in business, but that’s often not the reality.

“No-one is perfect, we are all human beings with faults, so just be who you are. Be brave and share who you really are and, if you feel comfortable with your audience, go ahead and share. You’ll be surprised at how it resonates with people.”

The Coffee and Content workshop costs £25 including a drink (and biscuits!) and can be booked HERE.
