Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club comfortably won their latest home fixture in the Kirklees and Calderdale Racketball League to keep themselves near to the top of the table. Neil Baldwin put in the best of the displays with an imperious performance.
All three players from HLTSC won their matches with each of the players performing well to overpower their opponents.
Neil Baldwin (HLTSC) vs Neil Perry (1st Seeds)
Results- 11-5, 11-4, 11-7
Neil Baldwin of HLTSC wins 3-0
The best quality racketball came in the 3rd match of the evening from the top seeds.
Neil Baldwin is a top racketball player and it showed in his performance against Perry from Old Crossleyans.
Baldwin always had the edge of Perry after a close start to the first game when each player was settling in.
Baldwin’s coverage of the court was imperious as he pushed Perry in every point. Whilst Perry had a few winning moments, it was Baldwin who kept playing the winning shots and putting Perry under pressure. A top match to watch.
Ian Smith (HLTSC) vs Reman Jahal (2nd seeds)
11-6, 7-11, 11-6, 11-4
Ian Smith of HLTSC wins 3-1
It was another good performance from Smith this week who managed to overcome the young squash and racketball player, Reman Jahal.
Whilst Jahal was nimble around the court and took the second game off Smith, the match swung back into the Huddersfield player’s favour in the 3rd and 4th games.
David Sykes (HLTSC) vs Chris Johnstone (3rd Seeds)
Results- 11-6, 11-5, 11-6
David Sykes of HLTSC wins 3-0.
Sykes returned to the team this week and produced an excellent display to take each game by a comfortable margin.
