It has been a bumper year for Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club at the Yorkshire Photographic Union’s prestigious Annual Exhibition staged at Barnsley Civic Gallery.

Two club trophies were won and a record six category trophies awarded to four members.

Sheelagh Davidson’s work won pride of place as Best Author and winner of the Halifax Trophy.

Sheelagh won with the following: Learning to Trust – Winner of Open Colour Print trophy; Not My Favourite Book (main image, above) – Winner Portrait Projected Digital Image trophy; and Only in My Dreams – Winner Creative Print trophy.

The club’s other winners were:

Richard Fulcher with Lady in Waiting – Winner of Portrait Print trophy; Michael Hey with Clarence Dock in Leeds – Winner of Scapes Projected Digital Image trophy; and Tony Renshaw with Call to Morning Prayer, Ladakh – Winner of Travel Print trophy.

Their high scoring entries helped Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club to win the Keighley Challenge Trophy for the Best Overall Club for the second time in three years and the J E Barker Trophy for the Best Print Club.

A spokesman said: “Club members can be rightly proud of a most impressive showing in a competition which showcases the best work from club photographers in Yorkshire.”

The exhibition is open for viewing until June 22 2024 and entry is free.
