A truck dealership has launched a year of fundraising for Huddersfield’s biggest food bank – by repairing one of its vans.
Lindley Moor-based Mac’s Truck Sales has announced The Welcome Centre as its charity for 2024 and to start the partnership the company has renovated one of the delivery vans.
A new wooden floor was fitted to the van and a new bulkhead was installed. A faulty window regulator was also repaired.
Mac’s Truck Sales, one of the UK’s leading family run bespoke new and used truck dealers, has supported many charities over the years and more recently raised £600 for Aspire Creating Communities.
For 2024, the company has chosen to partner with The Welcome Centre, based in Huddersfield town centre.
Laura McFarland, HR manager at Mac’s, said: “We chose this charity as we believe that the cause is more prevalent and important now than ever before due to the current economic climate.
“The Welcome Centre helps by supplying food, toiletries and other essentials, alongside a one-to-one advice, guidance and support service to Kirklees families, as the largest independent food bank in the UK.
“The values of the charity align with the values of the business and the directors alike. Our finance director is a huge advocate and volunteers outside her company duties to support homeless charities and the local community.
“The company looks forward to continuing to support The Welcome Centre’s projects in the coming year.”
