Luke Parkin scored the only goal as Emley AFC continued their strong away form with a 1-0 victory at Sheffield FC.

The bottom-of-the-table South Yorkshire outfit held the Pewits at bay for much of the contest but Parkin pounced 12 minutes from time.

Emley had chances in the first half for Mo Qasim, Charlie Barks and Alex Metcalfe. Parkin went closest when he beat the keeper only to see his effort cannon back to him off the post and his second attempt was blocked by a despairing dive by a defender.

After the break, Emley were less convincing and had to battle. Sheffield’s poor discipline did, however, allow Emley to try their luck from setpieces.

A big chance came in the 61st minute after Donae Lawrence won a free-kick deep into Sheffield territory on the left. The ball was delivered with pace and another huge piece of defending resulted in a goal kick, as the ball was once again cleared off the line.

Sheffield made it tough for Emley but a moment of magic from Parkin secured the points for the visitors with a 30-yard curler in the 78th minute.

Emley take on Ashington at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday November 23 (3.00).
