The Covid-19 infection rate in Kirklees dropped by 17% over the last week in line with the national trend but hospital admissions have increased again this week.
Restrictions have been lifted but infection rates remain high and Kirklees Council is urging people to be kind and do all they can to keep each other safe, particularly those who are vulnerable.
With 311 people per 100,000 in Kirklees testing positive for Covid-19 over the last seven days, the borough’s infection rate is now above the national average, which is 275 people per 100,000.
There were two more deaths in local hospitals related to Covid-19 over the last seven days and hospital admissions have increased on last week, with 46 people admitted to local hospitals in the last week – an increase from 38 the previous week.
