Some of the top businesspeople in Kirklees celebrated the district’s top performing companies.

The 2024-25 Kirklees Top 100 Companies list was unveiled at a launch event at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Greetings card company UK Greetings, based in Dewsbury, claimed the No1 spot followed by Oxalis Logistics UK Ltd – formerly the Huddersfield-based Hoyer group – in second and Slaithwaite and Linthwaite-based STADA Thornton & Ross in third.

Launched five years ago, the Kirklees Top 100 Companies celebrates the achievements of the district’s business community and was founded by partners the University of Huddersfield, Kirklees Council and the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre.

The Kirklees Top 100 Companies list is determined by a set of consistent metrics, using a combination of turnover, profit, employee numbers and growth, all derived from published company accounts of locally registered firms drawn from the Bureau Van Dijk – FAME database.

This year there were special awards for Most Consistent Performer – awarded to Birstall-based paint and coatings firm PPG; Highest Climber – Cleckheaton-based Flexitallic UK Ltd; Highest Placed SME – Huddersfield-based commercial flooring company CoGri Group Ltd; and Highest New Entry – painting and decorating contractors Alfred Bagnall & Sons Ltd, which moved its head office from Shipley to Cleckheaton.

Sponsors of Kirklees Top 100 include Cleckheaton-based employment law and HR firm Howarths, Holmfirth chartered accountancy firm Langricks and Huddersfield Town AFC.
