Kirklees Badger Protection Group welcomed Mayor of Kirklees Clr Cahal Burke to a wine tasting evening.
The event at Lindley Liberal Club raised more than £1,000 to support the group’s work.
The volunteers work across Kirklees to monitor, protect and build artificial setts to support badger life.
The group also checks planning applications, works with ecologists and supports ideas to accommodate development with as little disturbance as possible to wildlife.
Stalls at countryside events such as Honley Show, Emley Show and Mirfield Show also raise awareness and the group works closely with West Yorkshire Police wildlife crime officer Caroline Newsome.
