Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club grabbed another win over Wilsden and remain top of the Kirklees and Calderdale Racketball League. Keith Campbell was man of the match as he came from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
Mike Coombes was on court first for HLTSC, playing against Ray McCartney. Coombes narrowly lost the first match, he then narrowly won the second, he won the third reasonably comfortably and then came from 8-10 down to win 12-10 and seal a 3-1 win.
Campbell then made his way onto the court and played the much younger Carl Ramsden representing Wilsden. What a match this was, all the games were close with Ramsden taking the first two.
Slowly though Campbell worked his way back winning the next two games. It was then all set for an exciting fifth game and what a game it turned out to be. Both players had match points but eventually the game went to Campbell 15-13 to complete a stunning recovery from 0-2 down to win 3-2. Man of the match by far.
Finally it was Dan Lawton playing Tom Cleminson. These two competitors were two young and fit players who were well matched. Cleminson won the first, Lawton the second and the third, Cleminson then won the fourth making it 2-2. The ball was hit with some venom and the fifth was a right battle which eventually went to Cleminson 11-9.
A hard fought win for HLTSC with a match score of 11-6.
