Golcar United joint manager Gav Connor has praised his team’s performance at the weekend as the Weavers beat Bottesford Town 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Golcar striker Kayle Price grabbed a superb hat-trick to give them all three points, scoring in the 32nd, 42nd and 74th minute. He now has 19 goals for the campaign and is a huge reason behind Golcar’s climb away from Northern Counties East League Premier Division drop zone. The Weavers now sit 14th in the table and are looking more upwards than down.
On the result and performance Connor said: “It was full credit to the lads. We had a few players missing through injury or other reasons but the lads who played put in a really good shift.
“It was a shaky start but as soon as we got the first goal we looked like the team that would win the game.”
On Price’s performance in particular, Connor added: “We all know what Kayle is about. If he gets a chance he generally takes it. His 19 goals have contributed massively to getting away from the bottom two.”
Looking ahead, Connor said: “We had a decent cup win on penalties on Wednesday night and our league form has been decent. We’ve lost only once in the last seven so it hasn’t felt bad to be fair and we’re actually third in the league form table.
“Our intention is to keep climbing the league and finish in the highest possible position.”
