Joe Jagger came off the bench to smash home a match-winning penalty to make it 30 goals for the season and give Emley AFC their latest win in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Cup.

The Pewits beat Hemsworth 2-1 at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Tuesday night, sealing their place in the semi-finals.

The game’s first goal was scored just before the half hour mark. Good work in midfield saw a lovely pass slipped through for Iyrwah Gooden who slotted home low to the keeper’s left to give Emley the lead.

The visitors levelled the score just after the break through Ben Gelder. Despite both teams creating chances it wasn’t until the 82nd minute that the deadlock was broken. A penalty was awarded to the Pewits and there was only one man who was going to take it.

Within a few minutes of stepping onto the field and with a chance to grab his 30th goal of a productive season, Jagger blasted into the top right corner of the net.

Matters turn back to the league on Saturday when Emley make the trip along the M62 to Goole.
