The Duck Race, started by Pendragon Round Table, has benefited thousands of people through the profits raised.

Four decades later the ethos is exactly the same – fun, charity, happiness, family-friendly, and a desire to improve the whole community.

The list of individuals and groups who have financially benefited is huge but here are some over the years:

Holmfirth Skatepark in memory of Isaac Atkinson; Marsden Football Club; Linthwaite Junior Cricket Club; Southgate School where the donation helped fund the pupils reach their true outdoor potential on their Hadrian’s Wall expedition; Children’s Play Train and Bench at Greenhead Park; Pride in Linthwaite, Holmpride; Golcar Church; and defibrillators at Longwood Bowling Club, Golcar United, Walkers Arms pub, Golcar Cricket Club and Salendine Nook Shopping Centre.

Going back to 1992, Round Table purchased a minibus for the special unit for vulnerable children at St Luke’s Hospital and over the years helped contribute to home adaptations for children with disabilities.

A Round Table spokesman said: “We would not be able to make all these amazing contributions without the support of the people of Huddersfield and Holmfirth at our two fundraising events of the fireworks and bonfire near Crosland Moor in November and this weekend’s Holmfirth Duck Race.

“Good luck and thank you for supporting the quacktastic world famous Holmfirth Duck Race.”

You can buy a duck online HERE or buy from the sellers in Holmfirth on the day.
