Huddersfield Railway Station has been yarn-bombed!
While Lord Wilson had his back turned more than 15,000 knitted squares have been installed over the six main pillars of the station frontage in St George’s Square.
Knitters from across the world have been involved in the Big Rainbow Knit for the WOVEN festival, which officially launches on Saturday and runs until June 27.
WOVEN, funded by Kirklees Council, is a celebration of all things textile and a programme of events and activities is planned across the district.
An initial target of 5,000 squares for the station yarn bomb was set by festival organisers during the first lockdown last year and a Facebook group entitled: The Big Rainbow Knitters was set up to recruit volunteers to knit brightly coloured squares to feature in the installation.
Organisers were inundated and the result looks amazing.
It looks wonderful, thank you for brightening up Huddersfield all you knitters
