Huddersfield Town Women will be hoping lightning strikes twice as they aim to beat Loughborough Lightning in successive weekends.

The Terriers beat Loughborough 3-1 in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup last weekend and take on the same opposition on Sunday December 19 (2.00) in the FA Women’s National League Cup.

This time it’s away from home but confidence is high in the Town squad with Britt Sanderson – with 13 goals in 15 matches – and Laura Elford and Paige Crossman in top form.

Town will be looking to progress further in another tournament, once again at the expense of their Leicestershire opponents. The teams also met in late August when the Terriers took all three points home following a 5-1 victory.

The university-based team have won three matches out of their last five games however all have come against weaker opposition in cup competitions.

Meanwhile Loughborough Lightning currently sit 12th in the league table, with one win in which they scored three against Sheffield FC. On the other hand, Town sit in fourth place, with six wins this season.

A key aspect in Town’s newly integrated style of play is their defensive record. With just one goal conceded in their last four games. Manager Glen Preston will be looking for consistent performances at the back, whilst causing the opposition problems in attack.

Town fans can travel to Loughborough and watch Town Women live at Holywell Sports Complex, located on Oakwood Drive, Loughborough, LE11 3QF.
