Huddersfield RUFC’s home game versus Percy Park last Saturday fell victim to ‘Storm Darragh.’
The postponement came as a huge disappointment for the team who were hoping to build on their current run of good form.
At the halfway point in the Regional 1 NE season Huddersfield next take on top of the table Scunthorpe who they met in their opening match.
Back in September the Lincolnshire outfit recorded a 40-30 victory and maintained a winning record until the end of last month when they suffered their first and only defeat. On that occasion they were beaten at home by a single point by second placed York.
Sixteen points now separate Scunthorpe from 4th placed Huddersfield who have a game in hand and know that they will have to be at their very best to narrow the gap when they visit Heslam Park on Saturday (December 14).
Huddersfield pack leader Callum Thompson said: “Scunthorpe’s defeat provided a boost to the chasing pack and shows they can be beaten but from our point of view nothing changes.
“We are improving each week and starting to become a settled squad. We still have much more to give in terms of performance and consistency.
“Over the past month we have started to work on fine tuning detail and I believe that is building clarity in the way we play and gives us belief that we can win.”
