Happy birthday to us! Huddersfield Hub is two-years-old today!
We can’t quite believe where the time has gone but the Hub is growing up fast.
Our brand of positive news and quality journalism has struck a chord with those fed up with the doom, gloom and negativity.
We like to do things differently and we don’t follow the herd. We believe in good, old-fashioned journalism and we’re like a local newspaper used to be, bursting with pride, passion and positivity.
Huddersfield Hub was set up by local journalists Martin Shaw and Steven Downes and launched during lockdown on February 7 2021.
We provide a platform for the local community to promote what they do. Local news, grassroots sport, What’s On, business. We cover all that – and more.
Our business model is based on the kind sponsorship of businesses and individuals. We don’t earn a penny from page views which means ‘clickbait’ content isn’t for us. We cover proper stories that people want to read.
We help charities, community groups, good causes and fundraisers get their message across to our thousands of followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Our reach and influence is growing – and we have plans for expansion in 2023. Watch this space.
None of this would be possible without our sponsors, past and present. Our sincere thanks go to Stafflex, Syngenta and Scriba PR who have supported us right from our earliest days.
Then there’s Impact Education Trust, Kirklees Council Fostering, Big Red Industries, Huddersfield BID, Paladin Marketing, Fusion IT, Beanie Media, Empire House, Faith PR, Wild PR, A-H PR, Pennine HR and the Packhorse Centre.
We’d also like to thank, in no particular order, Huddersfield entrepreneur and philanthropist Prof Graham Leslie CBE for his support and friendship; event and landscape photographer Sean Doyle; freelance journalist Andy Hirst; webmaster Tom; and Sian for all her help and support behind the scenes.
There’s others we can’t thank by name but they know who they are and we’re immensely grateful for their support.
Huddersfield Hub is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company set up for the benefit of the local community.
If you like what we do and want to help Huddersfield Hub support the Huddersfield community, let’s have a conversation.
