Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival is ON and businesses wanting to take part have just two weeks to register with the organisers.

The ever-popular event which usually attracts around 150,000 people into Huddersfield town centre over its four days will be staged in St George’s Square again after it was cancelled for two years running due to the pandemic.

It had been due to relocate to Greenhead Park but delays to work on the square means it’ll be at its usual home and now is the time for businesses and entertainers wanting to take part to contact the organisers. The deadline is Monday, April 25.

The 2022 Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival will run from Thursday, August 4 to Sunday August 7.

It will be organised as usual by not-for-profit community interest company Huddersfield Live and as many businesses as possible are urged to get involved.

Entertainers are also needed with the chance to perform in front of large crowds so the organisers want to hear from bands, dance groups, singers, magicians and any other kind of entertainment. In the past the festival has featured local bands Storm, Razorbach and Highway 62.

Organiser Sam Watt said: “We are all systems go to create an event that brings great pride to Huddersfield, attracts thousands of visitors in and has a major knock-on impact for the town’s wider economy.

“The festival showcases what a brilliant place Huddersfield is to live and, most importantly of all, will make people smile again which is what we need after the last couple of years.”

Sam wants to talk to potential sponsors and any businesses that want to take part in the festival but wondering how they can get involved.

She said: “We are happy to talk to anyone who wants to be part of the event and will tailor their requirements, budget and vision to our festival.

“It’s much nicer to have many small partners than one big one as that shows we are all working together. Just contact us for an informal chat as we are open to any ideas to involve as many of Huddersfield’s businesses as possible.

“We really want this year’s festival to be a celebration of what we have all missed so much over the last couple of difficult years to celebrate our town and businesses as well as its entertainment and organisations so please join us and let’s make it the best Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival ever.”

Extra areas planned for 2022 include a VIP area and a Chillout Zone in St George’s Square.

Sponsors are needed to provide re-useable stack cups which can have a combination of sponsors on and will be a great promotional opportunity as the stack cups will not only be used at all Huddersfield Live events, including the Winter Festival, but can also be hired out to other events around the town.

Sponsors are needed to help with printing festival guides, banners, volunteer packs, gardening for the chillout zone, children’s entertainers, a van for the duration of the event, social media/marketing and … chocolate!
