Welcome to our Huddersfield BID town centre blog where every month BID manager SAM SHARP looks at some of the exciting things going on in the town.
We’ve got two big events coming up in Huddersfield town centre in June and we can’t wait!
The final countdown is on to this year’s Get Your Geek On comic convention held on Saturday June 8.
Whether you’re into cosplay, superheroes, movie cars, dinosaurs or just lots of family fun, there’s going to be something for everyone, and we’ve got some big star names coming too.
The popular James Cosmo, who starred in Game of Thrones, returns along with fellow Thrones star Clive Russell, and actor Will Mellor, who has had a variety of TV roles from EastEnders to Broadchurch. Gladiators Scorpio and Cobra will also be there.
The event will take over the town centre between 10am and 5pm so come and enjoy our third annual event.
We also have our next HuddersFeast Night Market on Friday June 14. It will be Pride themed ahead of Kirklees Pride on Saturday June 15. Expect food, drink and artisan crafts and stalls.
And if you’re into drag artists, you can’t miss Davina De Campo. Tickets to see the legendary artist are still available on Eventbrite – just take a look at Huddersfield BID’s social channels for more details.
While we’re talking about upcoming events and developments, we can’t wait to launch our new Hello Huddersfield app.
We’ll be inviting levy payers to a special showcase on June 20 and showing them how to use the new platform.
This app will allow businesses to showcase their offers, discounts, events and business profiles to app users across Huddersfield with notifications. It will also enable them to instantly notify us of any issues such as graffiti and shop thefts.
The app will provide even better communication between the BID team and our members and will work towards meeting our Enhance, Engage and Enterprise objectives for the 2024-2029 period.
The app isn’t just for levy payers, we will be signing up visitors to the town during Get Your Geek On and introducing them to all the amazing features of the app.
We’re also offering a marketing content workshop at the Media Centre, located in the heart of Huddersfield town centre on July 17 (10am-4pm).
This training is completely free of charge to all levy payers. Spaces are limited so apply for your place soon to avoid disappointment!
The workshop will look at developing content, producing engaging copy and thumb-stopping visuals, exploring types of content and the power of storytelling. Book your place by contacting us at enquiries@huddersfieldbid.co.uk
And last, but by no means least, we have welcomed another new face to the Huddersfield BID team. Stephanie Vlamis has been appointed as the new marketing lead.
She’s been out and about meeting and greeting our BID levy payers and will be continuing to share content via our social channels and raising the profile of the BID and keeping members informed via the regular communications. Please join us in welcoming Steph to the team!
